40B Fact Sheet

Chapter 40B Housing is a program created by Massachusetts to allow developers to override local zoning bylaws in order to increase the stock of affordable housing in municipalities where less than 10% of the housing is defined as affordable to allow working families and seniors to remain in their communities when they might otherwise be priced out of the conventional housing marketing.

Milton voters approve Communtiy Preservation Act by 62 percent

The CPA allow the town to add a 1 percent surcharge on property tax bills that would then qualify for state matching funds and then is used for projects involving open space, historic preservation, recreational uses, and affordable housing.
